About the event

Bringing Nature Back — a look at two park projects to restore native plants in Beamsville and Grimsby, plus my homegrown reforesting initiative, and a peek at the innovative effort by the Town of Lincoln to update their urban forest management policies based on best practices.

Liz Benneian is a former newspaper editor, with a degree in science, who has been leading environmental advocacy and educational organizations since 2004. Currently, Liz is Executive Director of Ontariogreen, a charity that provides free, curriculum-based environmental science presentations in schools. Liz is also the founder of the Ontario Zero Waste Coalition and has fought against incineration and for Zero Waste policies and practices for 20 years. 

Liz is also the spokesperson for the Trumpeter Swan Coalition and is the founder of the Biodiversity and Climate Action Collective  Niagara. In recognition of her dedication to preserving and enhancing the environment, Liz has received local, Provincial and National awards including, this spring, the Region of Niagara's first Environmental Impact Award.
